Records to add to Burson Cemetery?
Submitted by - Stephanie Gill - Debbie Taylor
Burleson [Burson] Cemetery located 1.8 miles west of Highway
43 on Jute Road, just past Bethel Road. Physical location is Township 25N, R34W,
S11.
The first canvas was done in the summer of 2001 by myself and my daughter.
November 21, 2002 - I am revising this list according to an
email I received regarding previous canvassing done in this cemetery.
January 28, 2003 - Deb Taylor and I revisited the cemetery
today and are making revisions.
This cemetery is only divided into 2 sections. We started on
the West section in no certain order. There are other graves in the cemetery,
but without having any kind of record book to go by, we can only go by visuals.
You can tell where some graves are, but there are no stones, markers or headstones. Most of the cemetery on the
west side is covered with vinca,
that is just starting to bloom when we were canvassing. Probably, most of the
people buried here originate from Oklahoma rather than Missouri. I have checked
the 1880 and the 1910 census books and don't find but a few of these in the
books. In searching the 1910 Peoria, Oklahoma census, we find many!!!

Additions and changes from a canvas done by Colleen Belk and
Mary Curry in 1970 will be in blue.
Additions and changes from a canvas done by Larry James in 1972 will be in
red.
