I DREAM OF GENEALOGY BIOGRAPHY OF

TODD JAMES ELDREDGE

The shores of Cape Cod have long been known for their beauty and endurance. They have been the home to centuries of military leaders, mariners, hunters of the sea. The Eldredge family is found in the annals of Cape Cod as far back as the 17th century when William Eldredge of England stepped foot on the Massachusetts soil. That step was the beginning of several renowned generations of Eldredge lineage.

Todd Eldredge was born August 28, 1971 in Chatham, Massachusetts to John Eldredge and Ruth Fleming. Early on, Todd was a hockey player but quickly turned in his hockey skates for ice boots. With the determination of his Eldredge forebears, he committed himself 100% to becoming great, and greatness soon followed, but it was not without struggle. The sport of skating is quite expensive and soon proved a tremendous burden for the Eldredge family. The close-knit people of Chatham soon rallied around him; through community-sponsored events, they raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help Todd continue in his quest.

By 1985, Todd had won the U.S. National Novice Men's Figure Skating title. He achieved the status of World Junion Champion in 1988. At the senior level, he has won a total of five national championships, the 1996 World Championship, and is a two-time Olympian. Currently a Michigan resident, he enjoys a lucrative skating career, but has not forgotten his Chatham roots. He returned to Chatham, starting a fund for other young athletes, and Chatham responded by constructing "Todd Eldredge Baseball Park".

On January 10, 2002, Todd, at age 30, won the Senior Men's title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships - his sixth such title, going on to a fine showing for the U.S. at the Salt Lake Winter Olympics. Todd continues to thrill audiences worldwide with his skating on the professional circuit.
