Obituary submitted by
Gladys B. Sisk, 84, a lifetime resident passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 1994 at Lakeridge Care Center of Moses Lake, Washington. She was born on August 9, 1909 in Ellensburg, the only daughter of pioneer parents Tom and Lillie (Ferguson) Morrison.
Gladys attended Kittitas schools and was on all the girls athletic teams—basketball, baseball, tennis, etc. After graduation in 1928, she enrolled in Success Business College in Seattle. After 7 months at school, she was called home to take care of her ill mother.
September 16, 1929 Gladys married Clarence C. (Irish) Sisk and they made their home in Kittitas on the 40 acres that Gladys inherited from her parents. Gladys sorted potatoes for Les Wilson for a number of years. When Les retired, Gladys and her husband bought a sorter and started sorting potatoes in potato cellars for farmers. After a few years of sorting, Gladys bought and sold potatoes for Walton Distributing Company in Seattle. After the potato business, Gladys sold real estate for Thayer Realty until her retirement.
Gladys and her husband organized the Flying Hoof Riding Club, of which she was an officer and game captain for 17 years. The club rode in the Seafair Parade, and at Yakima, Selah, Toppenish, Goldendale, Wenatchee, Quincy and at the Ellensburg Rodeo night shows.
She is survived by her nephews and their wives, Chet (Tuff) & Judy Morrison and Tommy and Ginger Morrison; sister-in-law, Bertha Morrison all of Ellensburg, great niece, Tammy (Jeff) Hansen of Loon Lake, WA; and great nephew, Victor Morrison of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Chester.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 30, 1994 at Steward and Williams Chapel in Ellensburg, Washington. Concluding service and burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ellensburg.
