T. A. HARRELL, SR., DIES SUNDAY. WELL KNOWN VALLEY FARMER PASSES AWAY AT AGE OF 82, LEAVES MANY RELATIVES. Thomas A. Harrell, Sr., 82, well known in the valley where he has farmed for 16 years, passed away early Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jessie Cates. Mr. Harrell had been in poor health for a year, but his illness became serious only within the last week.
Mr. Harrell was born in Tennessee in December, 1843, and he lived in that state until 16 years ago this spring when he came to Kittitas valley where he became interested in a small ranch on the West Side.
The deceased is survived by four sons, T. A. Harrell, Jr., Luther Harrell, and Steve Harrell, all of Ellensburg, and Herbert Harrell of Alhambra, Cal.; eight daughters: Mrs. W. T. Rutledge, Mrs. John Morefield, Mrs. Jessie Cates, Mrs. Will H. Packwood, Mrs. Felix Prater, Mrs. Frank Springer; all of Ellensburg, and Mrs. Ellie Hansley of Churchill, Tenn.; one sister, Mrs. Sallie Barrett in Tennessee; two half sisters, Mrs. Bessie Corner and Mrs. Beulah Martin of Pocatello, Idaho, and two half brothers, Ernie Harrell and Emil Harrell, both residing in the East.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Christian Church, the Rev. Max E. Wilson, pastor of the Thorp Christian Church officiating.
