Manor Hill Cemetery Records submitted by
Manor Hill / Shavers Creek Cemetery
On Route 305 slightly SE of Mooresville, the Presbyterian Church of Shaver’s Creek Manor is commonly known as “Manor Hill.” The church played a key role for the early Ewing settlers in West and Barree Townships. A half-mile away is Ewing Cemetery, a charming private place with some shade trees, gated from the farmland of an original William Penn land grant farmhouse sitting in the distance. Early burials in the area were done with field stones placed over graves without benefit of inscription, and so we miss the opportunity to identify some of our ancestors who are very likely interred there. In Ewing cemetery in particular you will note that it was not exclusive to those bearing the Ewing name but also welcomed the deceased of friendly neighborhood associations of the family and well as some of the inter-marrying families who became in laws to the Ewing clan.
